Madness is a maximalist form of dishonesty.
We are all endowed with the sense and sensibility to detect various forms of misrepresentation. When we ignore them, we step into a world of hurt. Whether we do that as societies or individuals, that is up to the circumstances. But we always do it at our own peril.
Why do I say this?

Because all people who imagine themselves to be anything other than what they are, are either dishonest, insane or demented. Sometime, not so long ago, we all knew these self-evident truths. Nowadays, society has placed dishonesty on a pedestal. It is a Cult, really. Nothing more, nothing less. Madness is now become a form of Art, a way to Govern.

We have put ourselves on a vector towards our Destruction as a Species. Because you see, folks, this planet is big, but not big enough to hold two Truths equally true and valid.
On one side you have the West with its accompanying plethora of mantras, where everyone can identify as anyone else, or anything else. Here, we are all tolerant of everybody else’s BS. But come to think of it, if you tolerate everything, you tolerate nothing. This is the corollary of that famous Public Enemy hit’s Harder Than You Think adage “If you stand for nothing, you can fall for anything!”
Here, we nurture emotions, not facts. Here, not only did we release all the insane people from the mental asylum. Here, the insane have taken over society, and are starting to lock the sane people away.
It’s exactly what’s going on right now. One medical student went with his colleagues on a tour of the mental hospital wing that kept patients with various forms of personality disorders. One of them believed they were Einstein, another thought himself to be Napoleon, another Shakespeare, so on and so forth. Speaking of which, how come deranged people never imagine themselves to be anything other than famous people? Why not take the identity of an unknown beggar, or a fisherman, or a destitute? How come most delusions are delusions of grandeur?
My opinion is that they want to be someone else famous because that is their only chance at being remembered for something. You see, most people are not happy with their lives. The large majority are with Hobbes in that life is “solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short.” But only a few are actually able to do something big that will be spoken of in centuries to come. So what then are people to do? Well, some get on with their lives and hope to make some mark that will endure. Others take the scenic route: the Insane Way.
But back to the medical students’ visit to the personality disordered patients, the medical student was shocked to see the bedlam, the cacophony, the raucousness, and yes bouts of violence that flared up every now and then whenever one maniac’s world collided with another’s. And that’s when the medical students concluded they were not going to go back there for a long time. Once was enough to see the spectacle of human dishonesty.
Upon sharing his conclusions with the professor of psychiatry leading the medical tour, the latter confessed his own clinical conclusions. He went before the group and told them that it was his medical opinion that if there were more of the insane, then it would be us the sane people who would end up under lock and key in hospices.
And lo and behold, this is what is happening right now.
And that is Our Reality here in the West. That is our Truth.
On the other side of the world, to the East, people hold another Truth to be self-evident.
They believe, and facts support their belief, that people who are dishonest should be shunned from society. They still lock up the insane and the deluded, you know. They still prosecute thieves. They do not allow insanity to take root at the core of their society. And you know Why?
Because they know that doing anything else would lead to the destruction of the world. They know that would be the end of our Species.
We, however, care not for this. We are going full speed ahead into the precipice of our Dishonesty.

There are so many things to say about this but I am pretty sure most of us have thought about it.
I for one care not to dwell on this subject. It is too painful to have a front seat to the spectacle of destruction of your own oikonomos. But suffice to say that the thought has entered my mind what if they are right to feel different. What if we are wrong and they are right? It is a sensible question, after all, if we never had any doubts, we’d be on another plane of existence. Probably much higher… or lower.
The reason I believe any doubts about the pretentions of dishonest people are misguided is simple. They can’t all of them be right. There’s too many variations of the insanity that is now peddled as the new Truth, at least here in the West. For all of them to be right, the Universe would have to put up another set of laws, contradictory laws. Chaos, which is another way of explicating Evil or Hell, would engulf the world as we know it if we dispensed with the application of present cosmological, epistemological, and ontological paradigms.
In other words, it would require the total suspension of our disbelief, just to accommodate their Truth. Insanity breeds insanity. Allowing or accepting, tolerating this sorry state of affairs has led us to this point in time.
We have relinquished control of our minds to a set of dangerous lunatics, whose ranks never cease from growing stronger, because their insanity is infectious. It accaparates all souls that come in contact with it. It poisons the minds of our Youth.

I would be remiss not to point out what should by now be obvious to all.
Complacency may not be equal to Indolence but one could lead to another. And in our case, it would be detrimental to our society to engage in either.
