You get to build your perfect space for reading and writing. What’s it like?
My daughter is still a teenager.
Although sometimes it feels as though she’s still a child, which is a very good thing.
Other times, she’s wise beyond her y(ears). 🙂
Most often the latter is true. Funny but true thing, the former doesn’t preclude the latter.
All in all she’s a well rounded individual, who is very grounded. As we say in our family, our daughter has got her two feet well planted into the ground.
And while her demeanour and attitude towards life are very realistic, she’s managed to hang on so far to that idealistic part, that slips away from most of us as soon as we come into contact with the ‘iceberg’ we call Life.

She’s lucky like that, having been born under the Sign of the Lucky Pig, who we all know brings all people born under it load and loads of amazing good fortune.
When she dreams she dreams big. She imagines adventures carrying demoiselles to faraway exotic places and times. She dreams of white knights on golden horses braving the elements and dragons by venturing into many enchanted forests.
She dreams very big indeed. And that makes her happy.

Her dreams stem from the books she voraciously consumes. Sometimes I think she’s trying to catch up to her papa judging by how fast she finishes reading a 500 page tome.
I feel blessed to have raised my daughter this way.
I guess I too am lucky.
Thing is I want her to hang on to those ideals, inhabited by so many characters, heroes and villains, and because I do, I feel it’s my responsibility to enable, to aid her retain her blessed innocence. And since the world outside the walls of our home is a mean, dirty, callous and disgustingly realistic one, I would do anything to cultivate her hobby, her escapology into the realm of make believe.
Did I tell you how lucky I was?! I did, haven’t I.
I am indeed fortunate because helping my daughter on her path of self-illumination is quite cheap and very rewarding, both to her and us, her parents.
I think I will get her a present that will make her inner life even more vibrant and colourful and splendid.
I am of a mind to get her a device that will bring the world she enters into when she opens one of her books, even closer to her soul.
They say that a picture is worth 1,000 words.
Well, I will get her something that will be worth 1,000,000 words.
