There is no Freedom to be had anywhere on Earth. Not in any recognizable form, at least.
Let me be plain. If the Ancients were able to live nowadays, and experience our ‘freedom’, they’d think we were not right in our heads.
There is no more Freedom. Not in the East, where the likes of Putin or Xi oppress their own peoples through myriad ways and means.
Not in the West, where the likes of Biden, Macron, Scholz, von der Leyen, Trudeau and many others, hide behind empty words while taking away our liberties, one freedom at a time.
Case in point
Most people watch TV, right? So let me give you a pop culture example.
Let’s take season 3 episode 3 “My Old Kentucky Home” of the Mad Men TV show.
While most Internauts including yours truly managed to watch the episode a while back, I was surprised not to encounter it on Netflix Canada or Netflix Europe, for that matter.
Yeah, talk about the bastions of free thinking and speech, eh! What a load of bovis stercus!
A cursory glance at the online forums made me realize how truly fucked we are here in the Proud and Mighty North.
This particular episode never aired in Canada due to censorship.
It seems one of its main characters, Roger Sterling, had put on black face (this is set in the 60s and 70s mind you) and Canadian censors (yeah, you heard right, we have that too) decided that with a sitting PM who had sported the very same makeup choice in his formative years, Canadians would not be able to take such ’emotional abuse’ on TV.
And that is why an episode where Pete and Trudy Campbell decide to regale us by dancing the Charleston, never aired on Canadian TV.
Censorship is the harbinger of totalitarianism. And that, ladies and gents, is the hallmark of dictatorship. We may delude ourselves to think we are free. And perhaps this is how the powers that be and our ‘beloved leader’ who can do no wrong, managed to pull the wool over our shortsighted eyes. But their gaslighting alone is not to blame for the dying freedom.
We are directly guilty for this sad state of affairs.
Freedom is Dead everywhere. Freedom of speech, freedom to vote and run for public office, freedom to bear arms, freedom to protest, all these freedoms are Dead on Arrival. Who’s to blame? Us, of course. Why? Because we allow politicians to tell us how to protest. “Peaceful protest”, they say. Yeah, right. Like that is going to upend the political order created by them for them.
