Canada is a huge disappointment to me.
There are many underlying reasons for this assertion.
The latest cause for grief is Canada Revenue Agency’s newly adopted Underused Housing Tax (UHT) that levies a federal 1% impost on the ownership of vacant or underused housing in Canada.
Meant, surely, as a means to combat an increasing lack of housing, especially for the working poor, this measure adopted by the Liberal government, is a clear indication of the communist leanings of this country.
Why do I say this?
Good question. It comes with a straightforward answer.
The objective
Because the Government seeks to destroy the rights and agency of property owners. Given its quest to ensure docile uniformity from a hapless populace, this latest act of wanton disregard for Canadians’ freedoms is another nail in the coffin of our democracy.
The mechanics
How does this work? What are the mechanics?
Again, easy.
Say you own two houses. You inhabit the first. But you don’t really want to rent out the second.
Why not? Don’t you want to make some $ while also providing a roof to a fellow Canadian?
Well, to answer this one must explain the rights of tenants and owners in Canada.
In this country, a property owner cannot expel a tenant defaulting on their rent if the latter fails to pay up in wintertime. That usually means a home owner cannot start the proceedings to kick out the miscreant defaulter until late spring. When spring finally arrives, the law allows him to initiate legal proceedings, but these usually take up to 6 months.
So, by the time they are close to getting the paper from the judge authorizing them to kick out the tenant, it is winter again. Nothing can be done!
This is why it may take up to 18 months before a home owner can expel the defaulter, during which time, he incurs only financial losses. Even afterwards, he will often have to refit and repair the property at its own expenses, without any chance to recoup his due rents.
Given this state of affairs, how can you impugn a home owner’s decision to sit tight and choose its tenants very carefully?!
And now, the Government, in all its wisdom and glory, wants to punish discerning property owners by taxing them into renting out their properties to some bougons, nefarious characters who spend half their lives working under the table, and the other half, scheming their life away, on the public dole.
This is why it’s always preferable to sit the frack down and reflect carefully before immigrating to greener pastures.
Because as life will attest, the reality is never equal to perception.
This is how the grand replacement of peoples works.
The Global South is moving North, annihilating its absorption capacities, and rendering it economically unstable. All the while, the rich Northern folk buy Southern countries from under Southern Peoples’ behinds.
We are at this point in History where the will of the people counts for nothing.
And Government takes over everyone’s life.
So yeah, I am cruelly disappointed by such nefarious designs and the general apathy of people.
No wonder so many people in the Collective West are becoming disillusioned with democracy. No wonder, indeed. If democracy means your government gets to dictate how you dispose of your property, then you can take back your democracy, for it is NO democracy.
More and more, I realize how false we’re being played by an authoritarian government on its way to becoming totalitarian under democratic pretenses.
