When you think of the word “successful,” who’s the first person that comes to mind and why?
It all depends, I guess, on how you define “success”.
Most people try to define it here and now, as if this fleeting chimeric instant was the only one that mattered.
But now doesn’t really exist at any level. Now is neither here nor there. In fact, the past is almost everything, outside that which has not yet come to pass, also called the future.
So trying to define “success” in the present tense is nonsensical. Therefore, money, wealth, health, joke de vivre, satisfaction, tranquility, peace of mind even, are all transitory and thus, mere trinkets to be put away and forgotten, in the grand scale of things.
In the long run, in God’s terms, meaning at the scale of His Grand Design, our anthill and all its ephemerals contraptions, hopes, and expectations, matter less than a mote of dust.
For when all is said and done, at the end of the Universe, when the Good Book says that the seas shall give up her dead and that all souls will be weighed against their original sins, only one thing will matter.
Adherence to the word of God and His Son and Messenger, Jesus Christ.
Success can only be defined one way and one way only.
It has no corporeal presence or material coil.
It comes from God.
It’s a Message.
It’s His Son.
Jesus is the Way. He is the embodiment of Success.
That is success can only be reached by living a life of honour, decency, modesty, and moral cleanliness.
Honour God, your parents, and your friends, and you will find happiness in the process.
Success is not of this world, my friends. For none of us are holy because we are mere mortals, afraid of treading in the footsteps of Jesus Christ.
To know success in this world of ours is to sacrifice our lives to protect our flesh and blood, in the service of our faith as Christians, and in order to save others from harm and evil.
Success walks hand in hand with Sacrifice.
No pain, no gain.
Amen!
