On Econometrics

Daily writing prompt
What skills or lessons have you learned recently?

Some time ago, I had the opportunity to work as an economist on some very interesting files.

For two years, I was in charge of gauging the supply and demand of an economic mainstay.

During that time, I learned a lot about a bunch of things.

I learned that school teaches you close to nothing when it comes to econometrics.

And unless you got the gumption to start from scratch, you might as well quit the business of economics.

So I did (learn), and boy what a ride that was.

But hey, you live you learn, right, right?!

Having acquired some very useful trades and Excel spreadsheet manipulations and being an inquisitive mind, I immediately applied this set of skills to my hobbies. The results surprised me.

Soon, I discovered that Excel can be your friend when it comes to measuring stuff, predicting trends, and whatnot.

Recently, I have made some inroads in the difficult business of forecasting trends.

Yes, yes, you heard me well. Excel is a top-notch tool that can be used, inter alia, to predict future econometric trends, like market prices.

All you need are good robust historical data, mental acuity, and Bob’s your uncle.

And to think I never even used AI. Hahahhaha

In other words, who the hell needs AI when you have AG.
