My Way

If anyone asked you if you had any regrets about your life’s decisions, what would you say?

No, really. What would you say if you got asked this impertinent question?

Speaking for myself, I would say that over my short but incredibly full life, I’ve made a lot of bad and good decisions.

Regrets, I have a few, perhaps even more than just a few. Honestly, I have plenty of small minute regrets about half-assed, spur of the moment, kind of trigger-happy decisions that saw me miss the tide so to speak. This included some small business deals that did not pan out. Nothing big though. Some of these small-time bad calls still itch. But how would we know we are alive if not by itching in all the right places, eh?!

If I was pedantic, I could even summon the recollection of some particular regrets having to do with imbecilic medium-sized decisions that affected the course of my life. For instance, when I decided to go to university and get a B.A. in History instead of something more lucrative. Another likewise idiotic decision was when I compounded this erroneous educational abiturian deficit by going for an equally non-lucrative Master’s in Globalization and International Development.

For most people, this would qualify as a fundamental error in judgment. Not for me.

To me, this was not a setback. This was an opportunity to find out that you can make it in Life even if you were a half-blind, one-arm, one-legged boxer, as long as your Soul was in the Fight. And I had zero impairments. Since God gives us plenty opportunities to rise to the challenge our Existence is, Life gave me lots of circumstances to prove my mettle.

So, no, I ain’t got any big-time regrets. None whatsoever. I always lived my Life exactly as I wanted to. And by this, I mean, by putting my family, my blood, and my friends first and foremost. This has always been My Way.

And that is why I have no major regrets. Because I did it My Way.
