SHTF – Shit Hits The Fan

This is exactly what survivalists have been stocking, preparing, and some perhaps even prayed for a long time.

I for one care less for such histrionics.

I’m penetrated all the way through the bone marrow with the faith that we either make it together or we don’t make it at all.

Call me an optimist. Call me a sucker. But you know I’m right.

Ever since the dawn of Man, when apes started morphing into Australopithecus, with Lucy becoming our common ancestor, we have banded together, zusammen, ensemble, juntos, împreună.

We did it not because we enjoyed our pestilential smells our convivial attitude. We came together for protection against predators, for warmth, to nurture our offspring and give them a fighting chance in this maelstromian universe.

We were right to do it.

With repetition came habit.

In no time, well after 1000 generations or so, it was in our genes, our DNA told us to band together regardless of the presence of predators, cold or danger.

Eventually, a lightning struck a tree near an ape campsite. Fire!

Many generations later, they had mastered its magic. They could maintain it, start it, kill it.

With it, came the warmth that allowed so many billions of our people to dream and hope big.

After 200,000 generations or so, we started building cities, developed writing, invented politics, started wars, razed cities to the ground, killing one another in spades, both wholesale and en detail fashion.

My point is simple yet so many continue to imagine they can make it on their own, should civilization be hit by the proverbial SHTF.

None of us will get out of a cataclism or world war if we don’t stick to the basics.

We stand united together, or we expire separately!

This is my emergency preparedness plan.
