If you had the power to change one law, what would it be and why?
Laws perpetuate the hierarchy. Hierarchy is bad because it creates a false sense or need for authority. Most people do not need authority to act morally. They know best how to live in harmony with one another. Those few who do not, are quick to find out with extreme prejudice, how the moral silent majority can protect itself from predators.
The more laws a society has the farther it is from Justice.
Laws used to be just when there were only a few of them.
I’d personally get rid of almost all the laws on the books.
I’d keep the bare minimum and only because I believe in the written word. But between you and I, all people, ALL should know this.
- Thou shalt not kill.
- Thou shalt not rape.
- Thou shalt not assault.
- Thou shalt not steal.
- Thou shalt not commit adultery.
- Thou shalt not bear false witness.
- Thou shalt not lie.
- Thou shalt not covet someone who belongs to someone else.
- Thou shalt not covet something that belongs to someone else.
- Thou shalt not do to another what they wouldn’t like done onto them.
Historically, the Norsemen were more than just brutal warriors. They were robust law givers.
In fact, the Vikings were extremely smart about it.
They said laws should be only as many as the fingers of both hands. This magic number guaranteed justice. Any more, and you end up with injustice instead.
According to them, Laws were not bad. Too many laws however were a bad thing.

I would only keep ten laws on the books. Knowing lawyers, I am pretty sure they’d find a way to fill the ‘vacuum’ by making tons of procedural rules to apply said laws. This will guarantee the safe evolution of society.
