How do significant life events or the passage of time influence your perspective on life?
Words are unable to convey the sensation of utter futility one becomes aware of as one ages.
Life only strengthens one’s capacity to see what one’s predecessors and successors felt and will feel. We are mere passengers in this cosmic ride our planet takes along with the entire universe on or inside the enigmatic easel of Creation.

Nothing is significant when regarded through the looking lens of Deep Time. Nothing makes any difference if we look hard enough. When we do that, we see that all the changes that may look important from up close and personal, lose relevance from afar.

As for the passage of time, it’s even easier to explain.
Imagine if you will a roll of toilet paper.

This is your Life.
All your dreams, aspirations, work, hopes, sadness, emotions, joys, disappointments, and achievements are contained therein.
When you are young, the roll is fat and sits well in its holder. It’s quite reticent to give in and fights you when you want to use some of its squares.
But soon you notice how the fight is over. The roll starts giving in. The years pass and the roll becomes less and less reluctant to put up a fight with you.
It’s no longer fat now. You are old enough to see the vector of life.
You pull at the roll, and it starts to unwind faster and faster until some day, it gives in and you see how all its squares are on the floor.
Normally, you’d blame Mr. Puss and Boots. But you see now, you don’t have a pussy cat.
So, you wind it all back by hand.
But in the end, you know that you’ve reached what the French coined in all their sagesse…

But Life is also Life.
So, enjoy it now for you never know when you will come to the bout de votre rouleau.
