What would you do if you won the lottery?

A dear friend of mine recently told me that poor people are afraid because they don’t know how to make ends meet while rich people fear losing their money.
It seems to me that both spend a lifetime worrying.
As for I, I guess if I won the jackpot, I’d start by worrying like there was no tomorrow.
Secondly, I’d get a higher education in the ways and means of maintaining a grip on receivables and payables.
In short, I’d try to absorb as much financial planning and wealth management knowledge as I could.
I’d leave no stone unturned until I found the best recipe for escaping the dreaded curse that afflicts 95% of all lottery winners.
I’m talking, of course, about the financial ruin that besets almost all the ‘lucky winners’ of such a windfall.
Making money and keeping it are two different propositions. Benjamin Franklin famously said that
A fool and his money are soon parted.

The secret is to forge a path forward that would put me on par with the richest families in Florence, today and tomorrow.
The secret, folks, is not to make money today. It is to keep and multiply it for your descendant who will be alive tomorrow.
By the way, did you know that the highest earners in 1427 Florence are the exact same in 2011?

The cosmic game of crapshoot we call Life only offers you but a few chances of escaping your orbit.
You’d do well to seize the moment and not let it go to waste through wanton profligacy.
