The Meaning of Womanhood

What does it mean to be a woman?

I do not know. Nor do I pretend that I could ever discover its meaning.

If I had to guess, being a woman is whatever a woman wants it to be on any particular day.

In 1851, the great Italian composer Verdi wrote Rigoletto.

Not his greatest opera but one of his most endearing to me. I like this opera not necessarily for its undoubtful musicality. This opera is close to my heart because it encapsulates the spirit of most women of reproductive age.

These are the English lyrics I would like all of you to read and think about at length.

Woman is fickle
Like a feather in the wind,
She changes her voice — and her mind.
Always sweet,
Pretty face,
In tears or in laughter, — she is always lying.
Always miserable
Is he who trusts her,
He who confides in her — his unwary heart!
Yet one never feels
Fully happy
Who on that bosom — does not drink love!
Woman is fickle
Like a feather in the wind,
She changes her voice — and her mind,
And her mind,
And her mind!

Rigoletto, Verdi (1851).

Being a Woman is not easy. I would even wager that it is more difficult, more demanding, more taxing than being a man.

A man’s task is relatively straightforward. Fight, protect, work, nurture, and die. Rinse and Repeat.

A woman’s task is quite complex and evolved. A Woman must be a mother, a daughter, a sister, a lover, and a power. An angel and a sinner.

If you are a Man, as I am, you will find all these roles a Woman plays, a trifle, easy breezy.

And how so wrong you would be too.

But, in all honesty I would rather face life with my wits and brawn, than having to go at it, as a Woman. Because I was born a Man, I must face the elements head on.

A Woman must go through life using her wits, and must husband her resources carefully, for She carries the Torch of Humanity inside Her. She is exposed, She is in danger, and it’s my job as a Man to keep Her out of harm’s way.

Call me what you will but I am with the Old Greek in this. More than 2,500 years ago, Thales, Socrates, or Plato inspired or were inspired by the Jewish blessings, nobody knows which, and produced the following esoteric words:

The sage in question was allegedly in the habit of thanking God for three things: “that I was born a human and not a beast; a man and not a woman; a Greek and not a Barbarian.”

Such is the female condition that it requires constant protection from the vicissitudes of life. No matter how strong the woman, and I met a lot of strong women, they all craved, some more secretly than others, the protection, comforts, and security of a Home. And a Home is the domicile of a Family. And a Family is composed by two People: a Man and a Woman.

I recently came across a most interesting breakdown of genre differentiation.

A study has revealed that male and female IQ are not distributed the same way across genders.

Men are all over the place, from Top 10% to Bottom 10%. They are both geniuses and idiots.

Women are generally concentrated on a narrow band situated in the middle of the spread. They cover 20% across the IQ equator line.

In short, men are ‘extremists’ while women are ‘moderate’.

That is why 90% of geniuses are men, but that is also why 90% of bums are men who live under bridges.

As for women, they are getting very involved in the life of the polis. Most of them have secured gainful employment and are more engaged each day in politics, business, research, you name it.

I included a collage of working women showcasing my words…

Hedy Lamarr (1914-2000) was a Jewish-Hungarian born movie star, inventor, and beauty. She was living proof that beautiful people can also be geniuses, and 100% of them are Women. Look into her eyes and try to find the spark that gave you Wi-Fi Technology. It’s there, but you must know where to look.

And a red head

Enough with the eye candy.

But in order to have species evolution, one needs variation. You never know where your next Einstein will emerge. At the same time, you also have a non-zero chance to get the next Jack the Ripper. Scary stuff, eh!

To keep things easy and on the down low, we will make the following working assumption.

IF you reverse the IQ variation, women will have a High IQ spread volatility, and men will occupy a Narrow band around the centre of the IQ range.

When you consider 10 men and 10 women, you’ll get the following assortment of “chocolates”:

10 men – 1 genius grade, 8 average Joes and 1 bad apple (ranging from dumb to evil).
10 women – 3 geniuses, 4 average Janes and of course, 3 bad peaches (ranging from simple to witchy witch).

We eliminate or control for bad apples. Meaning they don’t get to reproduce and have offspring. They are a necessary sacrifice on the Altar of Evolution.

That leaves us with ONLY seven available uteruses in the gene pool. I will let King Julien explain what happened to the other three.

IF the roles were reversed, there’d be nine available uteruses and seven males left in the gene pool.

From a genetics perspective, if one had to hedge one’s bets, it’d be more effective to chance it on having less males than females in the gene pool.

An uterus is harder, much harder to replace. That’s why it’s women and children first, people.

A male can procreate in 30 minutes tops. A female requires 11 months of gestation, which is the most beautiful and dangerous time of her life. There are no guarantees in life.

And there’s a hecatomb of women who have laid down their lives on the Altar of Motherhood.

There are no guarantees that she will live, that the baby will live, or that she will ever be able to get pregnant or deliver again. Such is the female condition, fraught with danger, and extremely fragile. A woman is like a mimosa.

Whereas Men are replaceable. There’s a lot more where they came from and nobody, including Men themselves, gives a damn if one or a million die.

That’s why species variation is organically centred on Men.
