Has anyone noticed how government is very fast to claim responsibility in victory and how in defeat or in the face of a setback they say “We’re all in this together”?
Because I have.
It has occurred to me that victory has many parents among the government, the elite, the establishment, as well as among our overlords and rulers.
And that defeat alone belongs to Us the People.
I was thinking about the tragedy suffered by the parents of the three Israeli hostages taken by Hamas to Gaza, and accidentally killed by the IDF the other day.
I would not want to be in their parents’ shoes. How horrible they must feel after their own government delivered these news to them.
And I will bet you that government was quick to issue a statement of condolences and another of support that invariably will being a monetary compensation for their loss.
Sorry to be crass, but burials costs money. So, the government must have offered them some restitution for their military error.
We all agree with the principle. But think of the origin of that money. It all comes from taxes, right.
And who are the taxpayers? We all are. So, each time government offers us money, it’s our own money they are using.
So, in this case, Jerusalem is offering tax money to pay for the killing of Israeli citizens who were also tax payers. You see how messed up this circular cash flow is?
We are being asked to forget we’re both paying into and benefiting from the tax system predicated on our work. We are the government, people.
Except that the government would like us to forget this factoid whenever it suits them to be considered apart from Us the People.
And the same government, as soon as they hit a wall, they feel the need to remind us that We are all in this together, that they are our elected officials, and represent our will, and that their mistakes are our mistakes too.
How convenient it is to have a system whereby they get the cake, play with it, eat it too, take a dump, and say the issue belongs to us! How convenient indeed!
