What is the most important thing to carry with you all the time?
As a man, self-respect is the most important asset one can ever hope to have. It all starts and ends with this. Self-respect is the Alpha and Omega that will determine one’s path through life.
From the moment a male is born, they carry with them the positive and negative traits associated with their genetic baggage. To that, their upbringing will add several layers of psychological complexity that will determine how they will approach the long uphill battle the life of a male is.
It’s not Nature vs. Nurture, folks.
It’s Nature & Nurture.
But if you thought, well that’s for the best, you got that wrong. Because under a combative model whereby Nature will fight off Nurture and vice-versa, the individual may end up with the best from both worlds, or at least they will profit from both ends.
Under the Nature & Nurture model, however, the individual will have no such luck. Under this paradigm, they will be either left with the most advantageous traits exhibited by both puericulture and genes OR with the worse possible features that both modes can transfer onto the mold.
So if they are lucky to be born in a two-parent stable and loving household that will provide them with all the necessities for life, nurturing their heart, mind, soul and body with material and spiritual food, they could become the best version of themselves.
Here, we have no guarantee that the best upbringing will yield best results. Life is not Math… unfortunately or fortunately.
If not, they will become the worst version of themselves. And that is a given.
Consider this, if a child was born with genetic defects, sick, uncared for, unloved, ignored, abused, broken, and abandoned in the “care” of strangers, how could they become a functional human being?!
But if a boy was given all the chances in the world, and they came from a good stock, then self-respect would put them over the top in terms of success and achievement.
Self-respect is one of the things that makes a male into a man.
